Red Suspenders Day

Blue Star Moms took 1st place last Saturday for the best of show float in the Gridley Red Suspenders Day parade! Working into the late hours of the night to finish the float. All the Hard work has paid off said Lori Danby, president of the Tri Counties Blue Star Moms.

The float was simple in concept but to the point said Lori Danby president of the Tri Counties Blue Star Moms. The Radio Flyer red wagon was hand wrap with a string of blue foiled stars of different sizes. “A lot of time was spent in the hand placement of 6500 pieces of candy in the bed of the wagon” said Lori Danby.

Robert Glass (aka Loretta Glass’s husband) was amazed to see the crowd frenzy the TCBSM’s float created as he navigated the float through the parade route. ‘It was like an unruly mob. Spectators  were trying to get a closer view of the float.” When ask if he thought that the candy in the bed of the Radio Flyer wagon had anything to do with the float being a big hit Robert Glass reply, “Maybe it did and maybe it didn’t.” In any event it was a great over all Float by the Tri Counties Blue Star Moms and enough to win them first place.
