Red Suspenders Day

Blue Star Moms took 1st place last Saturday for the best of show float in the Gridley Red Suspenders Day parade! Working into the late hours of the night to finish the float. All the Hard work has paid off said Lori Danby, president of the Tri Counties Blue Star Moms.

Welcome to the Tri Counties Blue Star Moms Website

We are mothers who now have, or have had children serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. With the help of our families and friends, we support all veterans, past, present, and future. We are a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism. We are a non-partisan, non-political organization. We welcome anyone in the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa counties and surrounding areas to help us support our local Military Personnel. The Tri-Counties Chapter is involved with community fund raising to assemble care packages for our sons and daughters deployed over seas. Additionally, we participate in local events to raise awareness of the organization, seek community support through donations and promote how proud we are of our local youth who have made the tough decision to defend their country during a time of war.

Here is a poem form Gary Sanchez a Vietnam Veteran to his favorite Blue Star mom. 

BLUE STAR MOMS OF AMERICA

Helping Mom rake leaves in the back yard in the middle of Fall

There she was in the bleachers watching me play ball

Making the best cookies anyone could ever bake

And my birthdays she always made the perfect cake

There to help with homework or advice about the bully at school

With all her chores, she was never through

Proud of me in what ever I do

There one day standing tall,

I looked her right in the eye and explained my enlistment for honor and duty

Just wanted her to understand my decision to defend our Liberty

When she wiped away her tears and tried hard to rationalize all her fears

She was there for me the devoted Mom whose love never fades

Just growing stronger with hugs, kisses and prayers

When I was away she thought of me every day, her and her heart of gold

Her love was automatically told

I’ll cherish all those letters, care packages and middle of the nightly phone calls

Waiting so patiently for my return and knowing what I had to do,

Her everlasting support in my heart will always burn

Like a candle flickering in the night

Hey Mom everything will be all right

I love you so much, and my heart you will always touch

Now it’s you I salute and all the Blue Star Moms this Mothers Day
